Mark Lono Kanakaole, 65, of Hilo died Sept. 1 at Hilo Medical Center. Born on Oahu, he was a musician at Sugar Shack in Haleiwa and Hale Inu Sports Bar in Hilo, played with groups such as Nanea and Kanakaole Trio, and played regularly at Hilo Farmers Market Kitchen and in front of One Gallery.
