Douglas Abran, 76, of Waimea, Kauai, formerly of Honokaa, died Aug. 8 at home. Born in Haina, he was a liliko tractor operator and factory mechanic for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., retired from the Kauai Lagoons Golf Course, was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran with the 101st Airborne Division, earning Bronze Star and Army Commendation medals for heroism. Celebration of life visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at Westside Christian Center Church in Kekaha, Kauai. Service at 11 a.m. Big Island celebration of life visitation with military honors 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Honokaa United Methodist Church. Service at 11 a.m. Survived by son, Dasan (Leimomi Wright) Abran of Hilo; daughter, Maelan (Bryant) Azevedo of Hilo; sisters, Frances Alpiche and Suzanne Tamashiro of Honokaa, Virginia Kaneao of Waikoloa, Shirley Kirkwood of Illinois, Dolores Sharp of Washington and Attie (Randal) Millare of Kona; brother, Ronald (Val) Abran of Kapulena; a grandson; nieces, nephews and cousins.
