Hurricane Calvin strengthens in Eastern Pacific
Hurricane Calvin has is quickly strengthening in the Eastern Pacific.
As of 5 p.m. today, Calvin has intensified into a category-2 storm with maximum sustained winds near 100 mph, and higher gusts.

Hurricane Calvin is still well east-southeast of Hawaii, but moving in a westerly direction at 15 mph.
Some additional strengthening is forecast during the next day or so, according to forecasters at the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
Gradual weakening is forecast to begin this weekend as Calvin moves over cooler water.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles from the center, and tropical-storm-force winds extend out 90 miles.
Current forecasts project Calvin will cross into the Central Pacific, in which Hawaii is located, as a tropical storm early Monday morning.
