Leonard Ainahau Kalua‘u Sr., 67, of Pahoa died Nov. 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in North Kona, he was a retired heavy equipment operator for Jas W. Glover. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Friday (Dec. 23) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service 6 p.m. Visitation again 8-10 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 24) at the chapel. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire. Survived by companion, Jewel Kaapana of Pahoa; sons, Leonard (Edalaine) Kalua‘u Jr. of Mountain View and Nicholas Kalua‘u of Hilo; daughters, Tammy (Claude) Williams of Tulsa, Okla., and Joanne Williams of Kona; brothers, John Kalua‘u III, Malcolm Kalua‘u and Ruben Kalua‘u of Ka‘u; sisters, Lorrie (Sam) Baker of Honokaa and Cheryl Dougherty of Hilo; hanai sister, Triva Alves of Ka‘u; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
