Narciso “Nasi” Fernandez, 82, of Kealakekua died Jan. 24 at home. Born in Captain Cook, he was a retired mason and member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers, coffee farmer; retired Konawaena High School girls’ and Parks and Recreation Kona women’s softball coach, and member of the former Fil-Am men’s softball team and St. Benedict’s Catholic Church. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday, May 2, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona. Mass at 10 a.m. Survived by wife, Ruth Fernandez of Kealakekua; son, Dolan (Xiangying) Fernandez of Kealakekua; daughters, Tanya (Rory) Manners and Narissa Fernandez of Kealakekua; hanai son, Kalima Victor of Kailua-Kona; father-in-law, Charles Hoo Dong of Hilo; sisters, Ruth Aguiar and Roselda Rasay of Hilo; sisters- and brothers-in-laws; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
