Phillip “Phil” Barro, 89, of Waimea, formerly of Naalehu, died April 5 at home. Born in Pahala, he was a retired equipment maintenance worker for the former Ka‘u Agribusiness, U.S. Army veteran and member of Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Naalehu Senior Citizen Center. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday (April 30) at Naalehu Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Naalehu Community Cemetery. Casual attire. Survived by son, Anthony “Masay” Barro of Waiohinu; daughters, Debbie Gacayan of Henderson, Nev., and Liane (Willy) Barro-Kilmede of Waimea; sister, Carmen (Moses) Pestano of Oahu; brother, John (Barb) Sentino of Washington; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
