KEAAU – Before Hilo High and Waiakea take the field in their respective home BIIF Division I girls soccer semifinals, they might want to consider getting Kaylia Galindo a gift.
Kamehameha’s senior goalkeeper highlighted her fourth shutout with a beautiful kick save Saturday with just more than a minute remaining against Kealakehe at Paiea Stadium. The Warriors’ latest scoreless draw was a win for the Vikings and Warriors.
The Waveriders (2-1-2, eight point) could have grabbed the top seed in the playoffs, and Naia Garana almost got them there, outrunning a defender to collect a pop pass to charge in, but Galindo got a foot on her shot, and 60-some seconds later Kealakehe dropped to the No. 3 seed. That sets up a semifinal Wednesday at No. 2 Waiakea (3-2, 9) on Wednesday. The Vikings (3-1-1, 10) get the top seed, and will draw winless Konawaena at Hilo Bayfront.
Kamehameha (2-0-3) played to their third 0-0 tie, outscoring their competition 4-1 on the short regular season. The only goal the Warriors have allowed came during the late stages of a 2-1 win against Waiakea in December.
Kamehameha and Hawaii Prep will meet Saturday, Feb. 13, at Paiea in the Division II final. The teams played to a scoreless draw in Waimea in January.
Oriana Tremaine kept a clean sheet Saturday for the Waveriders. The Kealakehe-Waiakea semifinal is a rematch of a Jan. 29 contest that the Warriors won 4-1 at home.
Hilo beat Konawaena 6-1 in January. That score for the Wildcats (0-5) was their lone goal one of the regular season.
Boys
Kamehameha 2, Kealakehe 1: Senior Mathew Enriquez started off the scoring with his league-high 20th goal, but the Warriors responded, getting goals from Joshua Tyler and Elijah Dinkel to win at home.
Dinkel’s goal came on penalty kick as the Warriors (5-1-1) won their third in a row.
The Waveriders (5-2-1) saw a six-match unbeaten streak end.

Parker 3, Honokaa 1: Fatuaiga scored twice in Waimea and Everett Gordon also found the back of the next as the Bulls (3-5) won their second in a row.
Keanakolu Case tallied a goal for the Dragons (2-5).
Waiakea 1, Makua Lani 1: Tevin Atwal’s 14th goal of the season was the equalizer for the visiting Warriors (6-0-3), who played to their third draw in four matches.
Kaelele Fernandez scored for the Lions (4-2-1), who had a penalty kick late in the match but failed to convert.
Hilo 9, Keaau 0: Leha Harman scored two goals to up his season total to 15, and six other players scored as the visiting Vikings (8-1, 24 points) closed on the top seed in D-I.
Michael DeCoito, Kani Tolentino-Perry, Issac Knell, Tait Labra, Brennan Barrientos and Ko’ae Pe’a also scored, and the Cougars allowed an own goal. Tysen Kaniaupio and Keona each had a hand in the shutout.

Kamehamaha 10, Konawaena 0: Elijah Dinkel and Lucas Kay-Wong each collected hat tricks in the Warriors’ road win.
Connor Gonzalez, Luke Keliikuli, Havelu Haunga and Po Roback also found the back of the net, and Kenui Kalaola-Maruquin kept a clean sheet against the Wildcats (1-7).
Hawaii Prep 7, Christian Liberty 0: Mason Hunt powered Ka Makani (4-1-2) with four goals and Aidan Santos bagged three, giving the senior 15 on the season.
Logan Waiau kept a clean sheet against the Canefire.

Kamehameha 2, Konawaena 0: Raeshalyn Respicio and Sophia Wilson scored second-half goals to fuel the Warriors’ win in Kealakekua.
Wednesday
Waiakea 9, Konawaena 0: Kaela Hatakenaka, Lana Mahi-Murray and Kalia Franklin each scored twice as the host Warriors won their third consecutive game to close the regular season.
KK Hashizaki, Keilee Silva and Kaitlin Beatty also scored for Waiakea (3-2, nine points).
Journey Morimoto was credited with the shutout.
