Janice Ann Howells Dassance, 72, of Kainaliu died Feb. 25 at home. Born in Los Angeles, she was a retired sheep farmer and wool producer. Services at a later date. James Ervin Hitzemann, 77, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 5 at home. Born in St. Paul, Minn., he was a retired banker, treasurer for Hospice of Kona, treasurer for Kailua-Kona Yacht Club and U.S. Army Reserve veteran. Scattering of ashes at a later date. Survived by wife, Nancy Jane Hitzemann of Kailua-Kona; son, Deric (Joy Jones) Hitzemann of Federal Way, Wash.; daughter, Krista (Todd) Riski of Des Moines, Wash.; brother, Jerry (Kathy) Hitzemann of Freeland, Wash. Beverly Kay Kypfer, 66, of Waikoloa died Feb. 19 at home. Born in Williams, Ariz., she was a clinical services assistant for North Hawaii Hospice and a former pastry chef for Merriman’s Restaurant. Survived by husband, James Ashford of Waikoloa; brother, Doug Kypfer of Montana.

Julie Remai, 62, of Pahoa died Feb. 26. No known family. No services. Survivors are asked to contact Hilo Medical Center at (808) 932-3500.

Michael Young, 60, of Waimea and Elk Rapids, Mich. died Feb. 20 at home. Born in Ann Arbor, Mich., he was a manufacturing mechanical engineer. No services. Survived by son, Cameron Young of Elk Rapids; daughter, Marin Young of Elk Rapids; ex-wife, Trish Young of Elk Rapids; companion, Kelly Hagan of Traverse City, Mich.; parents, Robert and Pauline Young of Traverse City; brothers, Tom (Simone) Young and Peter Young of Traverse City; a niece and two nephews.
