Abel Kawai Ganer, 63, of Kalopa, formerly of Lanai City, Lanai, died Jan. 31 at home. Born in North Kona, he was a retired supervisor and lead ramp for Hawaiian Airlines and U.S. Marine Corps veteran. A drive through memorial will take place from 8-9 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 11) at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Private services and burial to follow. Face masks and social distancing required. Memorial donations to the American Cancer Society or North Hawaii Hospice. Survived by wife, Myrni Mendes; daughters, Emily Freeman, Jessica (Clayton) Barbosa and Chelsea (Angela) Ganer-Loh; siblings, Hano (Charmaine) Ganer, Anacita (Steven) Murphy, Anna (Dean) Ganer, Kimo Ganer and Lanai (Martin) Eskaran; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Richard Lawrence Heller, 81, of Pahoa died Jan. 31 at home. Born in Coupeville, Wash., he was a carpenter and master woodworker. Private services held. Survived by daughter, Catherine (Greg) Morris of Moorpark, Calif.; son, Christopher Heller of Pahoa; mother of his children, Kaonohi Jeremiah of Pahoa; a sister and brother; two grandsons. Fujiyo “Violet” Kuroyama, 103, of Hilo died July 22 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honuapo, Ka‘u, she was a retired seamstress and member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association, Hawaii Shima Fukuoka Kenjin Kai and Kumamoto Doshi Kai. Private services held. Survived by son, Gary Kuroyama of Hilo; daughter, Evelyn (Edwin) Young of Honolulu; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces and cousins. Sueko “Sue” Sugawara Matsumoto, 85, of Paauilo died Feb. 3 at home. Born in Paauilo, she was a state Department of Education retiree and member of Paauilo Hongwanji Mission. Private services held. Noah Daniel Shockley, 21, of Whitehall, Mont., died Jan. 6 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Bozeman, Mont., he was owner of Shockley’s Gutter Cleaning and Snow Removal Co. and a member of Worldwide Dream Builders. Services held in Bozeman at C3 Church. Conrad “Condring” Cervantes Tenorio, 66, of Mountain View died Jan. 26 at his home. Born in Pangasinan, Philippines, he was a laundry employee at Hilton Waikoloa Village.
