Tropical Gardening: Local lockdowners do herb and spice gardening for sanity

Courtesy photo Kelly Dunn seen here is growing herbs and vegetables in a most unlikely place. He lives in the heart of the Kona cloud forest at 3,000 feet elevation. Adverse growing conditions of low light and high moisture make many plants subject to fungus disease. He has overcome these problems by enclosing his project with plastic cover and lit with grow lights.

We are now in the one millionth day of lockdown so you might consider another project to pass the time. Fresh herbs and spices are a natural for outdoor and kitchen gardening. In Hawaii we tend to depend on the convenience of the supermarkets, but growing your own can be fun as well as save money on the food budget.
