Paul Anthony Evangelista, 52, of Laupahoehoe died July 23 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he worked for the Hamakua Sugar Co. and Paauilo Slaughter House. Celebration of life 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Laupahoehoe Point. Survived by son, Dustin Evangelista-Lum Ho of Hilo; daughters, Chauntell (Jonathan) Figueroa-Kalili of Ainaloa and Kalena Evangelista Grace of Hilo; brothers, Henry (Sheri) Evangelista and Dwayne (Lani) Evangelista of Papaaloa, Robert Evangelista of Kapehu; sister, Rochelle (Al) Evangelista of Kapehu; three grandchildren. Harold Napualani Ka‘aumoana Kama Sr., 69, of Hilo died July 19 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was employed at Ed Burns, Sonomura, Constructors Hawaii and lastly with Isemoto Contracting Co. Ltd. as a mason foreman and foreman for the Operating Engineers Local 3, an entertainer for Na Kaholokula and the Paradise Band, member of the musicians union and a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at the Dodo Mortuary chapel. Memorial service 6 p.m. Casual attire. Flowers welcome. Survived by wife, Sharilyn Kama of Hilo; sons, Harold Napualani Ka‘aumoana (Michelle Malulani) Kama Jr. and Kevin Keali‘i (Heidi Auli‘i) Kama of Honolulu; daughters, Jowenna Leilani (Tyoncenay) Walls of Songton, Korea, Chrissy Noelani (David William Jr.) Henriques of Captain Cook and Melissa Iwalani (Aaron) Carvalho of Fremont, Calif.; brothers, John Napela (Pauline) Kama of Vincennes, Ind., William Kapulaninohoika‘iu (Eileen Adele) Kama of Dayton, Ohio, and Archie Maka‘ala (Florence Jeannie) Kama of Boise, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Eleanor Sayoko Kuratsu, 82, of Hilo died July 2 in Folsom, Calif. Born in Hilo, she was retired from Raytheon. Private services held. Survived by daughters, Shana Kuratsu of Orangevale, Calif., and Ronell (Craig) von Chance-Stutler of Folsom; brothers, Donald Komatsu and Kenneth (Leatrice) Komatsu of Hilo; sister-in-law, Mildred Sugita of Anchorage, Alaska; two grandsons; nieces, nephews and cousins. Hisashi “Sausage” Matsuoka, 97, of Hilo died July 16 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired harbor police for the state Harbors Division, U.S. Army World War II veteran and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin. Visitation 3-4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo. Memorial service 4 p.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Emiko Matsuoka of Hilo; son, Glenn (Joan) Matsuoka of Honolulu; daughter, Glendene (Mike) Otake of Hilo; sisters-in-law, Tamiko Matsuoka of California and Haruno Ochi of Hilo; brother-in-law, Takeshi Higashi of Honolulu; nieces and nephews.
