Patrick Aiona, 8, uses a brush made from a tree branch to paint piranhas as part of a mural project Wednesday during the College of Continuing Education and Community Service Keiki Summer Science Series at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. The students’ mural plan, left, is taped up for reference above the trays of paint. The weeklong session for keiki ages 8-10 allowed them to explore, experiment and experience the natural environment in fun ways.
