USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory geologists will conduct free talks today and Thursday in Kailua-Kona and Pahoa, respectively, about current volcanic activity on the Big Island.
At 6:30 p.m. today, HVO’s Frank Trusdell will discuss the status of Mauna Loa, Hualalai and Kilauea volcanoes. Trusdell’s presentation will take place in the Maka‘eo Pavilion at the Old Kona Airport State Recreation Area, 75 Kuakini Highway.
This talk will be repeated Monday in the Konawaena High School cafeteria.
HVO’s Tim Orr will talk about Kilauea’s ongoing Pu‘u ‘O‘o eruption and the current status of the lava flow that threatened Pahoa in 2014-15 at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Pahoa High School cafeteria, 15-3038 Pahoa Village Road.
