The University of Hawaii at Hilo’s North Hawaii Education and Research Center, at 45-539 Plumeria St. in Honokaa, is offering computer and agriculture workshops Oct. 31 and Nov. 7.
Intro to Microsoft Excel is designed for those who own or are thinking of starting a business. Instructor Alan Ku will show participants how to create spreadsheets and how to let the program do the accounting work. The session is slated for 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 31. Tuition is $35.
Edible Landscaping with Zach Mermel teaches the dos and don’ts of turning a lanai, lawn, field or fence into an abundant oasis of edible and multifunctional plants. The workshop is scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Oct. 31. A handout of practical readings and resources is included. Tuition is $55.
Mermel also will conduct Edible and Medicinal Mushroom Cultivation, scheduled for 1-5 p.m. Nov. 7. Tuition is $85.
