A Pahoa man pleaded guilty on Monday to nine counts of first-degree sexual assault.
Hilo Circuit Judge Greg Nakamura ordered James V. Johns Jr. to appear Feb. 11 at 8:30 a.m. for sentencing.
Johns was indicted on April 25 for “knowingly engaging in sexual penetration” with a girl born in May 1994. The offenses allegedly took place between July 19, 2006, and April 30, 2010.
The judge allowed Johns, who had been incarcerated in lieu of $90,000 bail, to go free on supervised release until sentencing.
Johns, who was 24 at the time of the indictment, is the son of homicide victim James V. Johns Sr., who was murdered in a tool shed on his Nanawale Estates property on Dec. 16.
A 36-year-old tenant of the elder Johns, Jason Russell Jump, is charged with the murder.
First-degree sexual assault is a Class A felony punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment, but under terms of the plea deal Johns will be sentenced to two years in prison and 20 years probation.
