After making it to the top 24 of “American Idol,” Liahona Olayan was voted off the show Sunday night.
After making it to the top 24 of “American Idol,” Liahona Olayan was voted off the show Sunday night.
Olayan, a former Pahoa resident, was one of eight singers who did not have enough votes from viewers to make it to the next round.
Although saddened by the results, Olayan addressed her supporters and followers with an optimistic video over social media.
“Sadly, my ‘American Idol’ journey has come to an end, but I’m so grateful for the many experiences I had,” Olayan said. “I had a lot of time to learn new things and grow, so I’ll always be grateful for that.”
Many people replied to her video with words of encouragement as well as gratitude for representing Hawaii on a nationwide platform.
Although her journey in the competition ended, Olayan is positive about her future in the music industry.
“This is only just the beginning of my career and I’m excited to start it off and see what the future has to offer me,” Olayan said. “I hope you guys stay tuned and continue to follow my journey as I keep progressing in music.”
Olayan’s brother, Ammon, 18, was voted off earlier in the season.
