Eufemia S. Cruz, 92, of Pahala died June 13 in Pahala. Born in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, she retired operating her Certified Nurse Aide Care Home and baked Filipino pastries commercially with her late husband, Felix Cruz, and was the last-living Filipino Sakada in Pahala, sailed on the SS Marine Falcon from Port Salomague, Philippines, to Hawaii in 1946 and was awarded and recognized by the Hawaii State Legislature and the Hawaii County Council on Dec. 20, 2015. She was also a member of Pahala Holy Rosary Church. Condolences to: Cruz Family, P.O. Box 546, Pahala, HI 96777. No public service because of the pandemic. Private family graveside service at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery at a later date. Survived by daughter, Virginia Winston (Gary) of Oregon; sons, Eddie (Frances) Cruz of New Mexico, Danny (Karen) Cruz of California and Orlando Cruz of Pahala; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
