Zachary “Zac” “Papa” Kahikina Kanuha Sr., 80, of Kailua-Kona, died May 27 in Honolulu. He was retired owner/caterer of Z&S Catering, retired county wastewater treatment plant operator, carpenter, bellman at the former Kona Inn Hotel, former head coach and president of Kai ‘Opua Canoe Club, and member of numerous Hawaiian organizations including Royal Order of Kamehameha I and Ka Lahui Hawai‘i. He was a a professor at Sophia University in Tokyo, scholar of Chinese art, dealer in Asian art establishing Kaikodo, “Hall of Embracing Antiquity,” a business in Japan and gallery in New York City, and owner of the former Restaurant Kaikodo in Hilo.
