Wahine sweep top three Merrie Monarch spots

KELSEY WALLING/Tribune-Herald Halau Ka Lei Mokihana o Leina'ala, under the direction of kumu hula Leina'ala Pavao Jardin, placed second in Wahine Kahiko with 605 points during the 61st Annual Merrie Monarch competition. The halau placed second in the Group Overall, Wahine Overall, Wahine Kahiko and Wahine 'Auana contests.

KELSEY WALLING/Tribune-Herald Halau Hi’iakainamakalehua, under the direction of na kumu hula Robert Keano Ka‘upu IV and Lono Padilla, won first place in Kane Kahiko with 590 points during the 61st annual Merrie Monarch competition. The halau won the Kane Overall title with 1,194 points.

The halau placed third in the Group Overall and Wahine Overall contests.
