Big Island police seek escaped inmate
Police are searching for escaped inmate Ainakailani Akui.
Akui is 28 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 145 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing gray sweatpants and sweatshirt.

Akui posses a “significant threat to life or property,” according to an alert from the Hawaii Police Department.
He was last seen today at 10:35 a.m. at the Hale Nani Correctional Facility on Kanoelehua Avenue in Hilo.
He is known to frequent the Hilo and Puna districts. If anyone sees Akui or has information about his whereabouts,
contact 911 or police dispatch at (808) 935-3311.
