Amy Naomi Texeira, 60, of Keaau died April 4 at Hilo Medical Center. Pedro “Pete” Velasco Jr., 85, of Pahoa died March 21. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired public school teacher and a member of the U.S. Olympic volleyball team in 1964 and 1968, a member of the NAIA Hall of Fame and was inducted into the U.S. Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame in 1999.
