Jeff Robert Scofield, 62, of Seattle, formerly of Hilo, died May 28 at Swedish Medical Center-Cherry Hill in Seattle. Born in Taylorville, Ill., he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio and spent his career in student financial aid, as dean of financial aid at Chaminade University, assistant vice president of student financial services at Seattle University, and several director of financial aid posts, including University of Hawaii at Hilo,
Longwood University in Virginia and Our Lady of the Lake and Schreiner College in Texas. His interests included Japanese literature, language, and culture, bluegrass music, nature walks, the beach, farmers markets and rhubarb pie. Memorial service later this summer in Seattle.
