Police seize 20 pounds of meth, arrest Hilo man

Police say they seized more than 20 pounds of methamphetamine Thursday during the execution of a narcotics search warrant at a Keaukaha Hawaiian Homes subdivision residence in Hilo.

Also confiscated were two 9 mm un-serialized semiautomatic pistols (ghost guns), a 9 mm Mac-10 pistol, an illegal high- capacity semiautomatic pistol magazine, ammunition, and various items of drug paraphernalia, police said.

In addition, according to police, officers seized for forfeiture $13,235 in cash and three vehicles.

A 33-year-old Hilo man, Seth Alan Pahinui Spidell was taken into custody. He was charged with five counts of first-degree promotion of a dangerous drug, plus second-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and eight firearms offenses.

Spidell was also charged with violating parole.

His bail was set at $472,000 and his initial court appearance is scheduled for Monday in Hilo District Court.
