Mindy Miranda Babchuk, 44, of Hilo died July 23 in Honolulu. Born in Germany, she worked at Bay Clinic Hilo and loved spending time with family and friends. Drive-thru celebration of life 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, at Dodo Mortuary carport. Face masks and social distancing required; no getting out of vehicle. Survived by sons, Frankie Degele IV and Ninoa Overtur-Babchuk of Hilo; mother, Pamela Alo of Hilo; father, Randy Babchuk of Arizona; brothers, Randy Babchuk Jr., Shawn Babchuk and Cody Babchuk of Arizona; sister, Shayna Rae Toledo of Missouri; a grandson; cousins. Loretta Betty Lou Johnston, 81, of Ocean View died Aug. 25 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Olaa, she founded and operated Lor Max Upholstery. Celebration of life at a later date. Paul Kumekichi Nahinu, 59, of North Kohala died July 14 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in North Kohala, he was a golf course maintenance worker, U.S. Army veteran and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kohala Ward. Walk-thru service 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at the family home, 55-451 Hawi Rd. Light refreshments will be given to go. Masks and social distancing required.
