Fire destroys Orchidland home

Fire destroyed an unattended 37th Avenue home Thursday morning in Orchidland Estates subdivision.

Eleven units responded to the 7:20 a.m. alarm, with the first firefighters arriving 10 minutes later to find the 900-square-foot, single-story wooden home and two vehicles engulfed in flames.

No one was injured and the fire was reported under control at 7:40 a.m. and extinguished at 7:50 a.m.

The estimated loss is $112,500 and the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
