Pearl Tong Chang, 83, of Kailua-Kona died Jan. 5 in Kailua-Kona. She was born in Shanghai, China. Private services held. Survived by daughters, Jade (Randall) Chang-Lockwood of Kailua- Kona and Hope (Tom Nguyen) Chang of California; four grandchildren. Arrangements by Ballard Family Mortuary.

Clarisse Yumi Obasa, 43, of Kurtistown died Jan. 11 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she formerly worked at Sack N Save as a food preparation assistant. Services pending. Survived by daughter, Kiani Aiwohi of Kurtistown; parents, Yoshio and Marcia Obasa of Kurtistown; brother, Blayne Obasa of Hilo; aunts, uncles and cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Michael Souza, 95, of Hilo died Jan. 9 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired truck driver for the County of Hawaii and U.S. Army World War II veteran. Private services held. Survived by sons, Dennis (Fran) Souza of Tacoma, Wash., and Leroy Souza of Reno, Nev.; daughters, Charlene McCoy of Reno, Arlene Takara of Pepeekeo, Donna (Julio) Pasamonte of Kailua-Kona and Darlene (Shelby) Ancheta of Keaau; a brother and a sister; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
