George “Bully” Alameda Jr., 85, of Hilo died Dec. 25 at home. Born in Waiakea, he was a retired plumber for Alameda’s Plumbing and plumber/pipefitter with UA Local 675, member of the 1953 Hilo High School Territory of Hawaii Basketball Championship team and Hawaii Island Senior Basketball Circuit, played for Waiakea Pirates and Keaukaha and member of Keaukaha Community Association and Malia Puka O Kalani Church. Drive-through visitation only 9 a.m.-noon Friday, Jan. 15, at Dodo Mortuary chapel. Burial to follow at 1:15 p.m. at Homelani Memorial Park, Section 7. Face masks and social distancing required. Casual attire. Survived by, children, Chad K. (Rosalyn Ige) Alameda, Lono (Moe) Nakashima, Gary Alameda, Janella (Keone Grace) Alameda, Avonelle Alameda, Tina Marie Alameda and Guy (Deanne) Alameda of Hilo; siblings, Edna (Lionel) Azevedo, Alice (Billy) Harbottle and Samuel (Diane) Alameda of Hilo, Leonetta (Richard) Garcia of Seattle and Gordon Kanani Alameda of Waimanalo, Oahu; sister-in-law, Lila (Mehau) Fernandez of Hilo; 16 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins.
