As of this morning, 10 are hospitalized with the virus and 40 COVID-related deaths have been reported on the Big Island, the agency said.
Civil Defense on Sunday reported 26 new cases in the county.
“Know that the the virus is in our community and we must make every effort to stop the spread,” Civil Defense said in an email message this morning. “Gatherings associated with the upcoming holidays and the evidence that gatherings contribute to the spread of the virus make it more important than ever to follow the preventative measures of face coverings, distancing and gatherings of no more than 10 people.”
Life Care Center of Hilo reported in an update today that only one active resident case remains at the facility.
A total of 55 Life Care residents and 17 employees have been diagnosed with the coronavirus since late September.
As of this morning, no residents are hospitalized, two have been discharged and 42 have recovered. The number of COVID-related deaths reported at the facility remains at 10.
Sixteen employees have fully recovered.
