Martha Bargas Abong, 91, of Pepeekeo died June 5 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua in Honokaa. Born in Kalopa, she was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Honomu Branch. Private services held. Survived by sons, Raymond (La) Abong and Robert Abong of Pepeekeo; daughters, Pauline Abong (Dennis Jr.) McClees of Honolulu and Sylvia Abong (Franklin) Kakazu of Puhi, Kauai; brother, Alfonso Remolino of Agoura Hills, Calif.; sister-in-law, Josephine Lacuesta Abong of Pepeekeo; seven grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Letitia Mae, 42, of Hilo died June 17 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she worked at Kilauea Military Camp in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Miyo’s Restaurant and IHOP in Hilo. Jo Ann Redding, 76, of Kealakekua died June 22 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Detroit, she was employed at the Regency at Hualalai. Private services will be held at a later date. Margaret “Peggy” Ellen Sankot, 81, of Hilo died June 19. Born in Belle Plaine, Iowa, she lived in Hawi for three decades, was the head nurse at the Haight Ashbury Free Clinic in San Francisco and worked at Kona Village Resort as a massage therapist.
