Police arrest 2, cite 3 for stay-at-home violations

During the week of May 20-26, Big Island police arrested two people and cited three others for alleged violations of Gov. David Ige’s emergency stay-at-home order to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

The arrests and citations were in the following locations: Puna, one arrest and one citation; Kona, one arrest; South Kohala and Ka‘u, one citation each.

None of the past week’s statistics involved visitors violating the 14-day travel self-quarantine.

The Hawaii Police Department’s ninth week combined total enforcement stands at 100 arrests, 240 citations and 12 additional cases initiated.
