Playing the fool
You may disagree with me, but I think we need to discuss our serious situation. Before it is too late.
On Monday I clicked onto a live webcam inside the stock exchange in New York. Guess what: No one was wearing a mask. People were kissing and hugging and having a great time. Laughing. Rubbing shoulders.
Are we permitted to do that?
Tell me, who is the fool? Them, or us? Seems to me that those folks are not exactly stupid. They are the elite. They are the privileged, the educated.
But they are also just as apt to get coronavirus as we are. So, why are they being so casual about the virus?
Permit me to speculate. They know that this virus does not kill everyone. It does not even sicken everyone. It kills the old and feeble and the young and weak, mostly. They are not quarantined and deprived of the company of others.
They aren’t worried, because they know something that we do not. They know that they aren’t at significant risk. They are not panicked. They are not staying at home.
What I am saying is that this hysteria is causing our nation to go much, much further into debt and heading for a major depression because no one has the courage to say it like it is.
The truth is that most of the old folks who are dying are dying of conditions they had before the advent of this virus. They have heart disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases, cancer and liver disease. They are already at death’s door. They die from the virus because they are weak.
My question for you all is: Can our nation keep this charade going until we are all bankrupt? Should we?
Seems to me that the cure for the disease is going to kill a whole lot more than the disease. It is going to kill our economy and our way of life and our constitutional rights.
Personally, I do not think that it is worth it to sacrifice our nation for those who are sure to die soon anyway. That is not heartless. That is pragmatic.
We need to get our act together. We need to get everyone tested for free.
Those with the virus get quarantined. Those who don’t have it need to go back to work. Now.
These stupid restrictions of beach closures and recreational places shut down need to be lifted. How stupid is it to keep people from what makes them healthy? Sunshine, fresh air. Exercise. Camaraderie.
Enough already of this foolishness.
Do your own due diligence and find out who is actually dying and of exactly what. Read the statistics about this virus. Most of those who die are not in the workforce. They are people that are already sick and/or retired.
If we want to get America back to work, we need to be intelligent about who we force to be idle. We can’t save everyone. Not possible. But we can save our national economy.
Most of the dying are old white guys (like me) who have some kind of illness already (unlike me).
I will say it again: This is not about the virus. This is about the power to control people. This is about politicians and elites who want to dip their fingers in the largess of the federal government. This is about power over us.
And that is just not right. These people are willing to destroy our nation.
