Wilfred Richard Burns Jr., 70, of Pahoa died Sept. 11 at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Kula, Maui, he was an operations manager for the Big Island Moving Co. and U.S. Air Force veteran. Visitation 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Dodo Mortuary chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again 8-10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 10 a.m. Military honors to follow. Casual attire; flowers and lei welcome. Survived by wife, Rofina Burns of Pahoa; sons, Wilfred Richard (Brandi) Burns of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Marc (Maelyn) Burns of Kaumana, Scott (Michele Tavares) of Orchidland, Scott (Michele Tavares) Burns of Ocean View and Justin Jacob (Shentelle Mathieu) Burns of Hilo; sisters, Shirley Ann Haunani (Leon) Ah Yat of Mountain View, Raene Kanoelani (Curtis) Chong of Honokaa, Dory Iwalani Hart of Florida, Cynthia Puanani Burns, Sharon Lehua Lono and Janice Leilani Makali‘i of Oahu; 17 grandchildren and a great-grandson; an uncle. Marcia Jean Phelps, 46, of Volcano died Sept. 10 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Olympia, Wash., she was a florist, member of Volcano Community Association and member and past board member of Cooper Center in Volcano. Celebration of life 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Cooper Center. No flowers. Memorial donations to Cooper Center in Volcano and/or Volcano Community Association. Survived by parents, Robert and Judy Phelps of Olympia; sister, Chrissie (Dean Evans) Phelps of Volcano; aunts, uncles and cousins. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Marie Searle, 90, of Hilo died Aug. 8 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. No services. Survivors are asked to contact Ballard Family Mortuary at 935-8445.

Shoko Steele, 89, of Pahoa died Sept. 10 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Japan, she was a retired digital re-worker for Digital Telephone Systems, homemaker, Japanese tea ceremony instructor and member of numerous bowling leagues. Private services. No flowers. Memorial donations to Hawaii Care Choices. Survived by son, David (Sue) Steele of Orchidland Estates; four grandchildren; great-grandchildren. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

The late Edward Tsuneo Hada is survived by, among others, brother, Roy (Carlene) Hada of Hilo. His name was incorrectly submitted for an obituary published Saturday.
