Herman Nelson Carvalho, 62, of Hilo died Aug. 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a bicycle repairman and member of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Waimea. Private services. Shirley Ann Shizue Kamimura, 70, of Mililani, Oahu, formerly of Hilo, died Aug. 11 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired Waiakea Elementary School teacher, recreational golfer, artist and craftswoman, member of Puna Hongwanji Mission, Hawaii State Teachers Association-Retired, National Education Association-Retired and former member of Ahualani Community Association and Hilo Adult Tennis League. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by husband, Russell Kamimura of Mililani; daughter, Lori Kamimura of Hilo; son, Wade (Jan) Kamimura of Aiea, Oahu; brother, Gay (Maria) Miyakawa of Mililani; sister, Carol Ann Miyakawa of Honolulu; brothers-in-law, Garrett (Pat) Kamimura of Burlington, Wash., David (Joyce) Kamimura of Aiea and Wesley (Jan) Kamimura of Mountain View; two grandchildren; a nephew and nieces.
