Antone Gaspar Jr., 87, of Ocean View died June 20 at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Napoopoo, he was a construction worker, pool maintenance man and U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Inurnment with military honors noon Friday (Aug. 23) at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Survived by sons, Antone (Iver) Gaspar III and Gerald (Dennette) Gaspar of Honolulu; sisters, Hazel Palacat of Kailua-Kona and Elizabeth Sampaio of Honolulu; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. James G. Gebhardt, 86, of Pahala died July 24 at Hilo Medical Center. No services. No known family members. Survivors are asked to contact Hilo Medical Center Quality Department at 932-3174.

Bert Kanoa, 73, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 12 at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale. Born in South Hilo, he was a bus driver for Robert’s Hawaii and Gray Line and groundskeeper for the former Kona Surf Resort. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 31, at Lanihau Ranch on Henry St. across from Crossroads Professional Building in Kailua-Kona. Celebration of life at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Alice Loando Kanoa of Kailua-Kona; sons, Bert (Seveanita) Kanoa of Kapaau and Bradley Kanoa of Mountain View; daughters, Juanita (Chad) Smith, Bernalyn Kanoa and Ipo (Trenton) Johnson of Kailua-Kona; hanai daughter, Amanda Caron of Kalaoa, Kona; brothers, Arnold (Jerri) Lum of Waimanalo, Oahu, and Gerald (Jerri) Lum of Maui; sister, Sandra (Paul) Dias of Laupahoehoe; other siblings, Lawrence, Albert, Charles, Jeanne, Florence, Beatrice, Mildred, Carol and Joyce; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Beatrice “Bea” Arruda Pao, 87, of Pahoa died Aug. 14 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired general manager for Hawaiian Shores Community Association and loved playing cards, gardening, music and animals. Prayer service 10:30 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 22) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Aloha attire; no flowers. Memorial donations to Hawaii Island Humane Society, 74-5225 Queen Kaahumanu Hwy., Kailua-Kona, HI 96740. Survived by daughters, Charmaine (Eugene) Caster of Ft.
