‘We need the TMT’
Without science, we would still be living in caves.
Regarding the Thirty Meter Telescope, I just finished watching the movie “Contact” with Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey. It is and based on a story by one of our greatest astronomers, the late Carl Sagan.
I urge every single Hawaiian to see this movie that has to do with the probability of life beyond our solar system, and the scientific possibility that someday we may be able to travel to other stars.
We need the TMT (“Build a temple,” Your Views, May 24) to reduce our ignorance, considering the fact that we are still not certain about what 95% of the universe is made up of.
By the way, every inch of this planet is sacred. Also, gods that filled our hearts with peace and hope have to be set aside as the time changes and our knowledge increases.
Regarding those who are no longer with us, what we need to hold on to as the guiding light should be their positive contributions to humanity.

Prescriptions tip
Getting on in years, I have a few prescriptions to fill every month.
Because I hate going to the drugstore every month, I started asking for 90-day refills instead of the default 30-day refills. I was astounded to find that my prescription cost was reduced by 30% to 50% by ordering 90-day refills instead of 30 days.

Styrofoam solution
Restaurants on Maui are giving take out food on ti leaves instead of Styrofoam. This will not work with “two scoop rice” and gravy, but there are many foods it will work with. Consider the savings!
Going green and saving money are the same thing.
