Julia K. Amaral, 85, of Naalehu died Nov. 3 at Hawaii Care Choices Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Naalehu she was a sewing instructor, state X-ray technician assistant, a food services manager assistant for Naalehu School, homemaker and member of Naalehu Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Visitation 8:30-10 a.m. Saturday (Nov. 24) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Graveside urn committal service 9 a.m. Monday (Nov. 26) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Survived by sons, Michael T. (Bernalda) Amaral of Kealia, Melvin T. Amaral of Ewa Beach, Oahu, and Peter B. Amaral Jr. of Naalehu; daughter, Cynthia M. (Michael) Tonini of Naalehu; brothers, Frank (Rita) Kahakua of Ewa Beach, James (Nora) Kahakua of Honolulu and Herbert (Karen) Kahakua of Ocean View; brother-in-law, Gene Madriaga of Hilo; sisters, Gladys Wilson of Naalehu, Elizabeth (Chris) Asuncion of Kona and Eleanor Kepner of Honolulu; sister-in-law, Thelma Kahakua of Mountain View; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
