Jack Purchase added 15 points and five assists and Eddie Stansberry scored 12 for Hawaii (1-0).
Raimo made a layup as time expired in the first half and the Rainbow Warriors opened the second with a 17-3 spurt — including two 3-pointers by Purchase — that made it 53-37 with 13:32 left. Portland (1-1) trailed by double figures the rest of the way.
Marcus Shaver Jr. led the Pilots with 19 points, Tahirou Diabate scored 12 and Josh McSwiggan 11.
Hawaii had 22 assists on 31 field goals, hit 11 3-pointers and used its 13-3 advantage on the offensive glass to outscore Portland 15-3 in second-chance points.
The Pilots trailed 36-34 at the break but made just 4 of 15 from the field, including 1 of 7 from 3-point range, in the second half.
UH faces Humboldt State on Sunday.
