Obituary for October 21

Verda Leialoha Roy, 90, of Kahaluu died Sept. 13 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she worked as an executive assistant for numerous businesses and organizations, an assistant to curators Lokalia Montgomery and ‘Iolani Luahine at Hulihee Palace, and was a co-founder of Halau No‘eau Kahelemauna. She also was a member of the Daughters of Hawaii and Mayflower Society and Alden Kindred of America. Visitation at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona. Mass at 4 p.m. Aloha attire. Survived by daughters, Lauren Mikahala Roy of Kahaluu, Moana (Billy Ochmann) Roy Kuma of Pahoehoe and Lisa Leialoha Roy-DeAguiar of Pahoehoe; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
