The show is open to all Hawaii-based print artists. No photography or digital reproductions of original works will be accepted.
This exhibit will be reviewed by Laura Smith, a well-known Honolulu print maker. Smith will conduct a print demonstration at 9 a.m. Oct. 6 called “Color Printing for Everyone” at the Wailoa Center in Hilo, which also is where the exhibit will be displayed Oct. 5-25.
Smith will demo relief printing techniques. Participants will learn two easy registration techniques for printing multiple colors. Using these fool-proof systems will produce perfectly registered prints.
Color ink mixing techniques and selection of papers also will be discussed.
This exhibit will be on display in conjunction with the Big Island Ukulele Guild’s Annual Exhibit. There will be an opening reception from 5-7 p.m. Oct. 5 at the Wailoa Center, 200 Piopio St., which will include an award presentation, refreshments and a Kanikapila performance.
The reception is free and open to the public.
