HONOLULU (AP) — Dozens of fans of singer Bruno Mars have set up tents and cots outside Aloha Stadium to purchase tickets to see the performer’s second Honolulu show in November.
About 50 people were lined up Wednesday afternoon to buy standard priced-tickets from the stadium’s box office, which opens for ticket sales Saturday morning.
Tickets for Mars’ first Honolulu concert in November sold out in minutes over the weekend, leaving many fans frustrated and empty-handed. Instead of gambling to buy a ticket online for the next show, some fans have chosen to make the purchase in person.
“I could’ve stood in line last weekend, but I took a chance and tried it online,” Leona Ahlo said. “And it was highly impossible to get tickets, so I said I’m going to sacrifice my nights and then my husband stays during the day. I think it’s worth it.”
The first person in the stadium queue arrived at about 5 p.m. Tuesday. Mele Stowers, of Kunia, arrived a few hours later.
“We want to do a family concert and what better person — Bruno Mars, the son of Hawaii — and have a good time. That’s all we want,” Stowers told Hawaii News Now.
Stowers, who had a cot and several chairs, said she is planning to hold her place in shifts with her family.
