Lu‘uwai out of running for lieutenant governor

Panaewa resident Maile Lu‘uwai says she is no longer running for lieutenant governor.

She said in a press release announcing her exit that the campaign wasn’t meeting fundraising goals.

“The race favors candidates with a pre-existing network of supporters and statewide name recognition,” Lu‘uwai said. “We only raised 50 percent of our fundraising goal by Dec. 31 and needed 100 percent to jumpstart a viable campaign.”
