Lance Rae of Walk Wise Hawaii gives Violet Kuroyama, 100, a kiss on the cheek after giving a presentation emphasizing seniors cross the street safely by wearing bright colors and not walking around between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. when visibility is poor. Rae’s presentation was Friday during the Akamai Living Fair at the Edith Kanakaole Multi-Purpose Stadium in Hilo. The county Department of Parks and Recreation invited seniors 55 and older to attend the free event that featured health screenings, seminars, vendors, entertainment and door prizes. The Akamai Living Fair is co-sponsored by Parks and Recreation’s Elderly Activities Division and Hawaii Medical Service Association. The next fair is stated for 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Nove. 3 at the West Hawaii Civic Center in Kailua-Kona.
