The Hawaii County Board of Water Supply on Tuesday agreed to set a public hearing to receive public testimony regarding a reduction of the power cost charge.
The hearing is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Sept. 27 at the Department of Water Supply Operations Center at 889 Leilani St. in Hilo.
The Department of Water Supply’s power costs were reduced after Hawaii Electric Light Co. cut departmental billings for electricity supplied to its wells and pumps.
The proposed price reduction is 9 cents, dropping the power cost charge from $1.70 to $1.61 per thousand gallons.
If approved, the power cost charge reduction would go into effect Oct. 1.
