Police investigating reported sex assaults

A pair of sex assault investigations were opened by authorities, according to a police log.

A police spokeswoman said one was a report of a juvenile girl reportedly assaulted between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the Pahoa area. The log indicates a first-degree sex assault investigation.

The other, according to the spokeswoman, was an adult woman who reported being assaulted between 9 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday in Hilo. The log indicates first- and third-degree sex assault investigations.

The two incidents are not related, the spokeswoman said. She added that arrests haven’t been made in either case and declined to provide any other details.
