DLNR officer charged with sexual assault

A state Department of Land and Natural Resources officer has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl at a beach park in Hilo while in uniform.

Ethan Ferguson of Hilo, 39, was arrested Thursday for the assault, reported Jan. 1.

He was charged today with two counts of second-degree sexual assault and three counts of fourth-degree sexual assault, according to Hawaii Police Department. His bail was set at $13,000.

Ferguson will appear in court Monday.
