Cameron Enriques smacked nine of his 29 kills in the fifth set Tuesday night in Pahala to carry Ka’u to a five-set victory against Waiakea and an automatic berth at the HHSAA boys volleyball tournament.
Brian Gascon added 12 kills for the Trojans (9-3), who prevailed 25-8, 22-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-12 in wrapping up the outright regular-season title in Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II.
The Warriors (9-3) fell into fourth place in Division I and would need Hilo to lose on Friday at Konawaena to avoid unbeaten Kamehameha at BIIFs.

The Canefire’s 25-9, 25-23, 23-25, 25-23 victory broke an 11-game losing streak to start the season, while Ke Kula O Ehunuikaimalino won its first set since picking up boys volleyball last year.
