Thanks to a grant from Moms Against Poverty, students of the Hawaii Academy of Arts &Science Workplace Readiness Program have a dependable work vehicle.
A 2008 Nissan Titan pickup truck that was purchased April 6 from Kamaaina Motors in Hilo will be used by the students to harvest and deliver macadamia nuts to market, deliver old newspapers to the papaya industry that are used for packing, continue their schoolwide recycling program, and perform community service.
The charter school’s students and staff thanks Moms Against Poverty for supporting the Workplace Readiness Program.
Academy teacher John Theismann also thanks Pat Ahlo and Randy Duldulao of Kamaaina Motors, who assisted the school in selecting and buying the truck.
The Hawaii Academy of Arts &Science is a public charter school in Pahoa that offers unique programs to ensure quality and holistic education for the children of the community.
