KAHULUI, Maui (AP) — Maui police say a 56-year-old moped operator died following a collision with a truck in Kahului.
Police say Richard Organiscak of Kahului died at Maui Memorial Medical Center Wednesday afternoon, a few hours after the crash.
According to police, Organiscak was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, which occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say Organiscak was turning left from a Hanakai Street exit and failed to yield for the pickup.
Police say the death is Maui’s second traffic fatality of the year. There were three fatalities at this time last year.
