TOBE Co. Food Safety is hosting a ServSafe certification class in Kona.
This one-day class is slated for April 20 at the Courtyard King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel. It starts at 8 a.m. and most students will be finished with the exam by about 5 p.m. Attendees must pre-register with TOBE Co.
“With new food safety regulations for restaurants, this is the best way to make sure managers and employees know what is needed to get a green placard,” said Tom Frigge, president of TOBE Co.

Since TOBE Co. is an approved trainer in the Employment &Training Fund program, 50 percent tuition assistance might be available if you qualify for this state-operated program. “We haven’t had a class on the Big Island for quite some time so we expect this one to sell out,” Frigge said. “If you haven’t already reserved your seat, call soon to register so you don’t get closed out.”
ServSafe, the food safety training curriculum developed by the National Restaurant Association, is considered the gold standard for restaurant food safety training. Anyone who passes the test will receive ServSafe certification and will meet all upcoming training requirements the state Health Department might mandate.
