A breakout several hundred yards upslope from the front edge of the June 27 lava flow advanced another 70 yards as of Thursday morning while the front remained stalled, according to Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
The flow front has stalled about 2 miles from Pahoa Village Road.
The breakout is advancing to the northeast.
A Wednesday overflight noted that lava continued to move through the flow’s tube system, though at a lower volume than last week, according to HVO.
A community meeting on the flow will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at Pahoa High School cafeteria.
